TIM AND TAMMY NEWSLETTER #54 – [VIDEOS] World Cup Quarterfinals 01/07/10
The World Cup quarter-finals are here. And tomorrow is the big game! I hope Brazil hammers Netherlands! Wouldn't that be cool?!
==> wouldn't that be… = Não seria…? ==> cool = bacana / legal
Well, I'm not sure that is going to happen, but I do hope Brazil wins and continues on in the World Cup.
==> I do hope = eu espero (O auxiliary "do" é para ênfase.) ==> continue on = prosseguir
I was watching a video commentary by a famous American retired soccer player. He was impressed with Brazil against Chile! He said that Brazil was better than anybody had thought. Watch the video here.

SCRIPT Tim Eric Wynalda at Yahoo Sports. Brazil and Chile today: Oh my, oh my! Brazil! This team has been criticized for their inability to defend. Are you kidding me? This was probably one of the best performances I have ever seen, from any Brazilian team. If you watch this the way I do sometimes, where you stop it and you want to break down plays, at one point in the first half, when Chile was pretty much controlling the game, they did have the better possession, if you look at it, from 54% of the time, Chile had the ball. Well, let me just break this down for you, at one point I stopped and there was nine people behind the ball, in their own box; 10 seconds later they had five Brazilians right in front of Chile's goal. When this team breaks, they are deadly. There is nothing that I've ever seen like it, and here's why: When they give it to their skilled players, they never lose the ball, they might…they'll never lose possession; they might get a foul or the ball might go out of bounds, but that trust that their team has when they break and when they go in numbers, it's virtually unstoppable. This team is incredible! And guess what? They do other things well, too. They get their first goal on a set piece, well, actually, a corner kick, Maicon puts a great cross in there, and just the basics: I'm going to outjump you and head it in the corner, Juan gets the first goal to make it 1-to-nothing. A great little pass again from Kaka to Fabiano and this thing is 2-nothing. And, like I said before in the second half, there's the break! And a little bit of concern about Elano being out of the team. Ramires steps in today, dribbles through the entire Chilean team and leaves it for Robinho who slips it in the corner: 3-nothing Brazil. You talk about performances that make a mark, this is definitely one of them. The rest of the world was watching, there was all kinds of coaches in the stands and all of them were shaking their heads right now. Brazil is a lot better than we thought. Dunga, no more criticism from me. You touched the trophy as a player, you might touch it again as a coach. Eric Wynalda, Yahoo Sports.
